Dallas battles through an even first half before Lexington scores three times after the break
Dallas Trinity FC faced off against Lexington SC on Friday night in a 2025-26 Gainbridge Super League Playoff Semifinals rematch. Lexington, the reigning Grainbridge Super League champions, came into the matchup as Dallas looked to continue its strong run through the month of September.
First Half: Dallas and Lexington Battle to a Scoreless Draw
The first half was an even matchup between the two teams, with both sides creating dangerous opportunities but neither able to find the back of the net.
Dallas continued to look for opportunities out wide, creating space for Onyeka Gamero to get forward and nearly open the scoring when her shot hit the crossbar.
“That was a big focus for us getting the ball on the wide areas,” said wingback Cyera Hintzen, “Me and Onyeka’s relationship is getting better in getting the ball to her quickly so she can take people on one on one. So I think Lee has really emphasized that and we tried to show that tonight.”
Both teams hit the crossbar once in the opening 45 minutes, but the game remained scoreless heading into halftime.
Second Half: Lexington Finds the Breakthrough
Lexington opened the scoring in the 56th minute when Addie McCain found the back of the net.
Catherine Berry then doubled Lexington’s lead before adding another goal to complete her brace and put Lexington up 3-0.
Dallas continued to battle through the remainder of the match, but Lexington held onto its lead through the final whistle.
“I think we had trouble today trying to find the spaces, and our switch point of attack could be better,” said head coach Lee Nguyen, ”The second half was a little bit better for us in trying to create more chances in possession and being able to switch the point of attack. We’ll look back at this game. For me, the 3-0 result doesn’t reflect what I saw from the performance on the field.”
Despite the result, Dallas continued its run of winning the possession and passing battle in the match. The team remains on track for a historic season that could see Dallas become one of the best passing teams in Gainbridge Super League history.

Dallas Trinity FC ends the month of September with three wins and one loss and remains in a playoff position, sitting fourth in the league.
Dallas still has two more league games on the road before returning to the Cotton Bowl. The team will have a bye next week before facing Brooklyn FC on October 10.
Despite the result, the bye week gives Dallas an opportunity to rebuild momentum before returning to action against Brooklyn.
For a new-look Dallas Trinity FC team with so many new players, this road trip has also been a great opportunity for the team to bond and continue building chemistry with each other.
“I think the road trips have really helped,” said team captain Sophia Braun. “We’re a team that hasn’t been together for a while. I feel like we work really well together and all have really good personalities together. Even at home, we all do stuff together, and the team is really connected.”
