Goals from Felicia Knox and Jasmine Hamid lifted Dallas to a 2-1 road victory and third place in the Gainbridge Super League standings.
Fresh off back-to-back victories, Dallas Trinity FC continued its winning run against Fort Lauderdale United FC, earning a 2-1 victory to climb into third place in the Gainbridge Super League standings.
First Half: Knox Opens the Scoring
Dallas made two changes to the starting lineup, with Aria Nagai and LJ Moore earning their first start for the club. Its success was evident as the visitors controlled possession and created the better chances throughout the first half.
Felicia Knox broke through in the 32nd minute, heading home Sophia Braun’s set-piece delivery for her first goal in a Dallas Trinity FC jersey. The assist was Braun’s first of the season.
Dallas carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Second Half: Hamid Strikes Against Her Former Club
Dallas doubled its lead just 40 seconds after the restart. Jasmine Hamid found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season in her first match back in South Florida since joining Dallas. Hamid spent two seasons with Fort Lauderdale and made 45 appearances for the club. Her goal moved her into a tie for third on the Gainbridge Super League’s all-time scoring list with 17.
“It means a lot,” said Hamid, “Obviously, I’m really excited to score goals against anybody. I have a lot of respect for this organization. It does feel good, but I appreciate their staff as well. From Fort Lauderdale to Dallas, I wouldn’t be able to score without my teammates. They create the chances for me and help me move off the ball. They do it for me, so I do it for them.”
Fort Lauderdale answered in the 59th minute when Sh’nia Gordon cut the lead to 2-1. The hosts continued to press, but Dallas held firm. Goalkeeper Neeku Purcell made four saves, including two late stops that preserved the victory.
“As a goalkeeper, you kind of have to enjoy that,” said Purcell, “You have to be ready, want to make a save and want to make a play. At the same time, you have to be a pessimist. You have to communicate and mitigate all dangers before they happen. It’s really just a moment to stay locked in. Because you have so many things to do, you focus on one thing at a time, and that helps you stay composed.”
Three Wins and Counting
The 2-1 result marked Dallas Trinity FC’s third consecutive win, moving the club into third place in the Gainbridge Super League standings. Head coach Lee Nguyen praised the team’s mentality and growth in closing out matches.
“This group is very talented. It’s going to take that mentality and grittiness. We’ll have moments when we can enjoy the ball and create things, but when the ball flips to the other side, can we switch on and say, ‘This isn’t the fun part, but we’ve got to do it. I think they’re starting to see that. I’m very pleased and proud because we had a very similar game in the first game of the year, but this time we were able to close it out. So I’m very proud of them.”

“Significa mucho”, dijo Hamid.
