Seven Castain Opens Her Scoring Tally as Dallas Trinity FC Earns a Point in Home Opener
DALLAS (August 15, 2026) – Dallas Trinity FC (0-0-1, 1 point) drew with Tampa Bay Sun FC (0-0-1, 1 point), 1-1, on Saturday at the Cotton Bowl.
Dallas Trinity FC played Tampa Bay Sun FC to a 1-1 draw in its home and season opener on Saturday, as 2,041 fans watched Seven Castain open the scoring in her club debut before Tampa Bay’s Tori Waldeck found the equalizer in the dying minutes of the match. With a shortened 2026 Gainbridge Super League Fall Season ahead, every point matters, with both clubs leaving the opener with one point each.
DTFC kicked off its home opener on the front foot, controlling 65% of possession against Tampa Bay Sun FC in the first half. The new-look roster also nearly doubled Tampa Bay in completed passes through the opening 45 minutes, helping Dallas generate several promising looks in the attacking third.
Tampa Bay picked up three yellow cards in the first half, with D. Rajaee shown a card in the eighth minute, K. Hill in the 20th minute and S. Nasello in the 39th minute.
Four minutes into the second half, Dallas’ Seven Castain broke the deadlock, scoring her first goal for her new club on her debut. The rest of the match continued in the home side’s favor, with Dallas continuing to dictate possession and move the ball around the field.
But the new-look Dallas Trinity FC could not complete the storybook home debut, as Tampa Bay found an equalizer in the 90+3rd minute. Tori Waldeck was credited with the goal, with Jordan Zade providing the assist.
The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Dallas Trinity FC will return to the Cotton Bowl on Saturday, Aug. 22, at 7:30 p.m. CT against Carolina Ascent FC. The match will serve as the club’s Women in Sports Night celebration and will stream on Peacock.
