A shortened 2026 Fall Season means there’s no margin for error. Every result counts. Dallas Trinity FC played a great brand of soccer over the last three weeks but was still searching for its first win of the season. That next opportunity came back at home at the Cotton Bowl, where Dallas welcomed Brooklyn FC to town for the first time this season.
Both teams entered the matchup still looking for their first win, giving each side plenty to play for and plenty of storylines worth following. With Dallas back in front of its home crowd, it was another chance to turn strong performances into three points.
First Half: Dallas Trinity FC Take a Big Lead
The first 10 minutes of the game were filled with excitement. A shot off the crossbar in the 3rd minute for Onyeka Gamero. A big save for Neeku Purcell in the 6th minute. And Dallas Trinity FC opened the scoring in the 8th minute.
Almost every single Dallas Trinity FC player touched the ball in the buildup to the goal, which eventually found Onyeka Gamero for the tap-in for her first-ever professional goal. The assist came from Camryn Lancaster, her second of the season.
“In practice I’ve been working really hard to join our other side when they’re attacking,” said Gamero on scoring her first goal. “Rather than just creating chances, I want to finish on the end of other people’s chances. I tried really hard to get into the box, and I was there at the right time and I got a goal from it, so I’m really proud.”
With Dallas up 1 early in the half, the team seemed motivated to continue the attack, earning a second goal just 20 minutes later.
A throw-in from Dallas’ half found midfielder Jamie Shepherd in space down the right wing who sent the ball to Seven Castain with a grounded cross. Castain faced off one-on-one with the goalkeeper picked up the second goal of the game and her second goal of the season.
Dallas Trinity FC led the visitors from the Big Apple 2-0 going into halftime.
Second Half: Hamid Puts the Nail in the Coffin
Brooklyn FC came out playing with a sense of desperation that led to two goals, both of which were waved offside.
Dallas continued to dominate possession, but they could not afford to make a mistake and open the door for a Brooklyn comeback.
Then in the 88th minute, a clearance from defender Sydney Cheesman quickly turned into a beautiful ball for forward Jasmine Hamid, who was in acres of space. She outpaced Brooklyn’s defense and beat their goalkeeper, , shutting the door on any conceivable Brooklyn FC comeback. The goal marked Hamid’s 15th goal of her career.
The final whistle blew and Dallas Trinity FC locked in their first win of the 2026 Fall Season in a 3-0 victory over Brooklyn FC. Lee Nguyen picked up his first head coaching win of his career as Dallas saw themselves jump up the standings to 5th after the win.
“I think it was a great win,” said head coach Nguyen. “We tried to create chances through possession, but we’re always going to take what they give us. We did well to collect the chances, and we put them away. I’m really happy with the team and how they closed out the game and kept the clean sheet. It was great to get our first win, especially at home in front of our fans. Hopefully, we can continue to build on that.”
DTFC’s goalkeeper Neeku Purcell, who played for Brooklyn FC in 2024-25, picked up her first clean sheet of the season against her former team as well.
“The past couple of games, we’ve really wanted to lock in on the little things and discipline on that, and I think today we were able to execute that,” said Purcell. “Winning every challenge, really taking it personal. And I think my backline in front of me, everyone, starting with the forwards, because that’s the goal and that’s where we got the shutout. You always want to beat the team you used to play for, so this one definitely felt good. The win is three points, but you always want a clean sheet and a win, so I’ll take tonight for sure.”

La siguiente oportunidad llegó nuevamente en casa, en el Cotton Bowl, donde Dallas recibió por primera vez esta temporada a Brooklyn FC.
Ambos equipos llegaron al partido todavía en busca de su primera victoria, lo que le daba a cada lado mucho por qué jugar y muchas historias que seguir. Con Dallas nuevamente frente a su afición, era otra oportunidad para convertir buenas actuaciones en tres puntos.
Primer Tiempo: Dallas Trinity FC Toma una Gran Ventaja

Un saque de banda desde la mitad de cancha de Dallas encontró a la mediocampista Jamie Shepherd con espacio por la banda derecha, quien envió el balón a Seven Castain con un centro raso. Castain se enfrentó mano a mano con la guardameta y consiguió el segundo gol del partido y el segundo de la temporada para ella.

“Creo que fue una gran victoria”, dijo el Director Técnico Lee Nguyen. “Intentamos crear oportunidades a través de la posesión, pero siempre vamos a aprovechar lo que ellas nos den. Hicimos un buen trabajo aprovechando las oportunidades y las convertimos. Estoy muy contento con el equipo, con cómo cerraron el partido y mantuvieron la portería imbatida. Fue genial conseguir nuestra primera victoria, especialmente en casa frente a nuestros aficionados. Esperemos que podamos seguir construyendo a partir de esto.”
La guardameta de DTFC, Neeku Purcell, quien jugó para Brooklyn FC en 2024-25, también consiguió su primera portería imbatida de la temporada ante su antiguo equipo.
