Kansas City native joins Dallas Trinity FC after developing through the Kansas City Current organization
DALLAS (September 9, 2026) – Dallas Trinity FC announced today that it has signed Kansas City native Meila Brewer through the end of the 2027 season. The defender joins the club following her time with Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League. The transaction is pending league and federation approval.
Brewer, 17, joins Dallas Trinity FC after signing her first professional contract with Kansas City Current in December 2025 at just 16 years old. The Kansas City native previously spent time training with the KC Current and KC Current II before beginning her collegiate career at UCLA in 2025. She started eight of the nine matches she played for the Bruins, logging a full 90 minutes in four matches and helping UCLA record four shutouts.
“Meila is a great young talent who has the qualities to be very successful in our system,” said Lee Nguyen, head coach for Dallas Trinity FC. “She brings a strong defensive presence, good composure on the ball, and a willingness to compete and learn. She’s a player with a bright future, and we’re very happy to have her with us.”
A longtime member of the U.S. Youth National Team system, Brewer has represented the United States at the U-15, U-16 and U-17 levels. She helped lead the U.S. to the 2024 Concacaf U-15 Championship, scoring a stoppage-time goal to complete a 3-0 victory over Mexico in the final. Brewer was also the second-youngest player on the U.S. U-17 squad that won the 4 Nations Tournament in 2025. Later that year, she started all four matches at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup and scored once as the U.S. won its group and advanced to the Round of 16.
Brewer developed with KC Athletics, where she was named the club’s player of the year and earned Best XI honors at the 2024 ECNL Championships. One of the nation’s top prospects, she reclassified from the Class of 2027 to 2025 to enroll at UCLA for the 2025 season and is believed to have been the youngest student-athlete in UCLA Athletics history.
“When offered a chance to play a role in the development of a prospect like Meila, we jumped at it. Once she returns, she gives us a profile that can immediately compete for minutes on match days.”
